December 6, 2005 Thanks Jeunot. A couple of years ago, while getting drunk on two bottles of Jeunot, Brian Ramos and I conceived a short vignette for the infamous De Dos Tierras show about a boy whose taught how to kill a goat for the first time by his father and uncle. Not a narrative, but an experiential piece, if you will. We were concerned more about the cultural significance of an animal killing in a traditional Latino
family gathering rather than any definitions of masculinity associated with rites of passage. But the idea stuck in the back of my head - How exactly does a boy become a man in traditional Latino culture? And what exactly does that mean anyway? To be a man. That's the underlying question in my next film, Father's Day (click here for more info). So I'm less than seven weeks from shooting, and I've rounded
up the ususal cast of characters. Brian on drums. Julie D. on bass. My girl Naiti, playing lead. And somehow I've got the mic. - mig

October 28, 2005 Rain Dogs. A Waitsian blend of Chaplain and Gene Kelly (or is it a Chaplainesque version of Waits and Kelly?) whose freneticism is as infectious as it is mesmerizing. Go see it now as part of the Tom Waits Peep Show. - mig
